Stransky Family Tree and more
2008
April Update
Merging & passing ASP VB and JSCRIPT with xml. We
have finally have a working code. We finally can reduce multiple xsl
and asp pages into just one xsl used for one asp which runs various
?query strings links.
This works very well with one master xml file. the master
xml has a VB dashboard to add, delete, modify records. Then a
JSCRIPT asp from one page to run the various asp?=strings to load
only one xsl for all. This will reduce having to build an asp & xsl
for each variation of a surname.
Look for to our pages to be updated over the next month. Once up and
working we may release insights how we did it.
To follow along on the progress of this, please note we are entering our
data via an xml dash board, and as pages get larger we will add more
filters for better browsing and searching. Note we are just adding
names and dates, photos will follow and template layouts as well.
************ ALL Project templates and data below will be incorporated to this
new project and we will phase out all projects below.

2008
is here and last year we had many new extended family contacts
We are looking forward to updating the photos and family
connections. Look for this style template on pages with in this site.
That will mean the page has been updated. A quick view screen to see
what we are updating please refer to this 2008
work board page
2007 GEDCOM
to XML template Project.
So far I have converted my gedcom to an reasonable xml
file and compliant. We were going to go with html, xsl and xml but decided
it would be best to have asp load the databases location.
We have it now is an asp to load the html sectional templates in the center
of the page.
Sample those test pages to view only
Koch.asp
Prisaznuk.asp
Malepzak.asp
Hook.asp
Stransky.asp.
If you click to other surnames at this time you might get a dead link.
Reasons for doing this in stead of have all surnames mixed up on one html
page with anchored, we are sorting the surnames by page. This also helps
people using search engines not getting extra hits mixing up first names
of another surname with the surnames you are looking for.
GEDCOM
to XML converter
Considering that many online converters do not follow a set
standard to display family trees. We have started programming our own
converter. Please note that we had to manually convert our first
gedcom file to proper xml. Now we are working on the xsl xslt files
to display the family Surnames with photos and icons.
Once we are finished with the converter AND THEN many page
layouts will be added that can be downloaded and used on your own site.
If interested how far we got,
please take a
look.
We also hope to have a great family photo album display to
show extra photos that are not displayed as portrait images on the default
family pages.
